Now here's what our hitch is going to look like installed. As you can see it's a pretty nice looking hitch. It sits right here in the center of our already existing opening in our truck, so we don't have to worry about cutting or trimming anything there. This is going to be a 2" by 2" receiver tube opening, so there's going to be a great deal of accessories available for it, including your snow plows, some people will put front-mount cargo carries on it, winch mounts. It shares the same 5/8" diameter pin hole here, so any of your Class III accessories will work out fine. more

Here's a good look at our hitch once we get it installed, as you can see you're not losing really anything here. Our ground clearance is going to remain just about the same, the hitch is going to remain just about completely hidden up here behind our bumper. Great thing about the install process, it uses all the factory mounting locations so we don't have to drill any holes, you don't have to make any modifications to our truck. It's going to leave us with our 2" by 2" receiver tube opening. These are going to work out really, really well for front mounted winches, for your snow plows, some people will put a cargo carrier on the front, a bike rack on the front, if they need to maximize their carrying capacity, so it's going to be pretty versatile. more

Then on the bottom we got the Draw Tite, part number 65068. The biggest difference that we're going to see between these two hitches is going to be when mounted on the truck where the receiver tube is going to be located. On the Draw Tite, it's going to give us a higher ground clearance, and it's going to come further out towards the front of the bumper, so it's going to give us more clearance with our accessories away from that front bumper. We've got a Curt mounted on this truck here and as you can see it comes out nicely underneath the fascia to where it's tucked up tight. The Draw Tite would come out up here right about the center of the license plate bracket, and so if you do have a license plate on the front of your truck, it would need to be relocated. There are a couple of different options. You can get the Draw Tite fixed bracket, part number 5443, or the Draw Tite fold down license plate bracket, part number 8802. Today on our 2007 E350 RV Cutaway, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Draw Tite front mount trailer hitch receiver, part number 65001. What I really like about this hitch is the versatility of it because you can use it with a bike rack, a cargo carrier and some of our customers have said that they like to do that because they pull a trailer behind their motor home. It can also be used for a winch for maybe pulling a ATV or 4-wheeler out of the mud offroad. It's nicely tucked up and hidden to where all you can see is the face of the receiver tube opening here and that's even nice and tight against the bottom side of the fascia. This hitch also features these recovery eye hooks. It's got one on either side to allow you to attach a safety chain or winch cable, anything like that because you don't want to hook it to a ball mount that would be in the hitch. This hitch features the 2" by 2" receiver tube opening with the welded on reinforcement collar all the way around here. more

As you can see, our main crosstube and everything is going to be hidden back behind this lower fascia panel. We had to trim that out a little bit, but that was a really minor thing to do. Looks like below that, our hitch is going to come down about 2 and 3/8 of an inch, so just keep that in mind. Front Mount Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Ford F-250

Today on this 2009 F-250 we will be installing the front hitch part number 65049. We are underneath the front of the vehicle here, and we are going to go ahead and point out the mounting location for the trailer hitch. We are actually looking at the passenger side frame rail on the outboard side and we have got a couple holes visible. If you look more forward towards the bumper side you will see a 9/ 16 size hole right there. That is going to provide our forward most attaching point for our trailer hitch. I do want to note on some of the newer model vehicles with four wheel drive. It has a bigger air dam here at the front and this air dam will need to be trimmed on those four wheel drive models. If you do need to trim the air dam just go ahead and give it a test fit and maybe take some dimension and go ahead and cut it before you get started. 00:40 more

And you can see from the bottom we have got an existing bolt, an existing access hole, and then an existing regular sized hole as well. We are going to be fishing through the carried bolt block through this hole. We are going to pull it down into position using the fish wire that is provided with the installation kit. We are also going to be using this larger bolt here on the side of the frame. We are going to be removing it and replacing it with the new one that is provided in the installation kit. That is going to provide our vertical attachment point for the trailer hitch. more

Front Mount Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Toyota Tundra

Today we are going to install part number 65031 from Draw-Tite, and we are going to install this on a 2005 Toyota Tundra pickup. To begin our install, let us take a few pieces off the vehicle. First off, this tow hook right here has to come off it will stay off. This skid plate right here, that will have to come off and stay off. And then this hook over here, this loop or tie-down has to come off, also. This bolt here and here and there are two back here that come out and allow the shield to come down. Next we will install the hitch on existing weld nuts. It is a good idea to have an extra set of hands because it is kind of heavy and kind of wide. Once we have the hitch installed by the factory bolts I am sorry, with the factory holes then we use the hitch as a template to drill out the last two remaining holes. All right, what we will do from here on out is, we will go ahead and snug the bolts down, lock the hitch into position, and we will start our drilling. The hitch will mark where our holes are going to be drilled at. Again, we will use it for a template. We will start off with a 1/4-inch drill bit to make a pilot hole, and then we will follow it up with a 1/2-inch bit. And this is the other one right here. more

Front Mount Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser- Video

Front Mount Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Today we are going to install part number 31367 from Curt. We are going to install a front mounted hitch on a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser. To do our install the hitch mounts in 3 different places. One is right here where we are going to take this bolt out here. There are three nuts over here on the right side where we take out the lowest one on this side. The hitch also attaches to the tow loop here and they will be the same on both sides. Go ahead and break these loose. It would be a good idea to have one of these ratcheting wrenches, this makes life real easy on this install. Next we can install our hitch. One thing you have to do obviously get the arms up in here to match that, but also the tabs on the hitch have to fit over the tow hooks. It is a tight fit, you just have to wiggle it into place. At this point we can go ahead and re-install our hardware. more

Front Mount Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Ford F150

Today we are going to install part number 65043 from Draw Tite and we are going to install this on a 2006 Ford F150. This will be a front mounted hitch. Our hitch will install on the inside of the frame. It will use existing holes that are in here. The holes that will be used in the frame will be the square hole here and this round hole up here, that is sometimes covered by this balance right here. We can start by actually holding up the hitch into position. This is a good one to have an extra set of hands for. It goes on the inside of the frame and there are 2 notches on there to keep it a little bit higher or a little bit lower depending on clearance with your bumper. It is a good idea to install your hitch as close as possible then install your hardware. In this case we have the hitch install in the lowest position. That should give you an idea of what kind of clearance you can expect. Once you have your bolts installed you can go ahead and install your hardware. You still want to leave it loose because you might have to move your hitch back and forth for the rest of the hardware. more

Front Mount Trailer Hitch Installation - 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD

Today we are going to show you an install on part number 65050. This is a front mount hitch and we are installing it on 07 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD. To begin our install we have to remove our license plate holder which is the square object in the center there. That has to come off and whats next is we have to cut a hole in the bumper so that the receiver can poke through. The plate is riveted on so we will have to drill out these rivets and just pop them off. What seems to work is grab the backside of the rivet with a pair of pliers and drill out the front and it comes right apart. Our next step is to start measuring so we can knock out our hole in the bumper. We are going to start with a common measurement. Basically we are going to start from this bolt right here. more
